FiFiJi: Pioneering Computer-Based Testing for a Future-Ready Education System
As we look towards the future of education in Nigeria, one of the most significant and positive changes is the Federal Government’s announcement to fully adopt Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for exams administered by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) starting in May/June 2026. This shift marks an important milestone in the evolution of assessments, aligning with the global trend towards digital education.
At FiFiJi, we were ahead of the curve, advocating for and implementing CBT in schools long before this landmark decision. For over three years, we’ve been working with model schools, providing technology support and fostering a culture of digital assessment through our innovative services. Our mission is simple: to ensure that students, from their earliest elementary school years, are equipped with the skills and confidence to excel in a digital examination environment.
At FiFiJi, we believe that preparing students for a computer-based testing future begins early. By introducing CBT at the elementary level, we give students the confidence to excel in a test-taking environment that is increasingly becoming the norm.
Our Core Service: CBT Summative Tests
At the heart of our approach is the termly CBT summative tests we provide to our partner schools. Powered by the Moodle platform, we’ve successfully integrated a comprehensive testing system that enables students to take exams in a controlled, secure, and digital-first environment. This system isn’t just about preparing students for high school exams but is designed to cultivate a deeper understanding of self-reliance, academic integrity, and exam discipline.
Features That Set Us Apart
Our service goes beyond mere exam administration. We’ve built a robust framework that incorporates cutting-edge features to ensure that students get the most out of their assessments:
- Quiz Shuffling: One key feature we offer through Moodle is quiz shuffling. This ensures that every student receives a unique set of questions, making it impossible to rely on rote memorization or share answers during tests. By randomizing question orders, we promote critical thinking and reduce the chances of malpractice.
- Remote Proctoring: As remote learning has become the norm, we’ve also integrated a proctored exam feature that allows students to take exams from the comfort of their homes while maintaining the highest levels of integrity. With secure remote proctoring, we ensure that students are monitored during exams, preventing cheating and ensuring fairness for all candidates.
- Lockdown Browser: To further enhance exam security, our CBT solution comes with a lockdown browser feature. This browser prevents students from accessing new tabs, apps, or websites during their exam, eliminating the temptation or possibility of using unauthorized resources. This guarantees a fairer, more transparent testing experience for every student.
Preparing for the Future
At FiFiJi, we believe that preparing students for a computer-based testing future begins early. By introducing CBT at the elementary level, we give students the confidence to excel in a test-taking environment that is increasingly becoming the norm. Through our partner schools, we have seen firsthand the transformative effects of this approach. Students who once struggled with traditional exam formats now embrace CBT with ease, demonstrating not only academic competence but also enhanced self-reliance and exam discipline.
A Vision for a Malpractice-Free Future
The move towards CBT is not just about adopting new technology; it’s about fostering a culture of integrity in education. With our extensive experience in the field and our commitment to providing high-quality, secure, and accessible assessments, we are confident that the future of exams in Nigeria is in safe hands. Our work has already proven that with the right tools, training, and mindset, students can excel without resorting to cheating or malpractices.
At FiFiJi, we are proud to be a driving force behind this change, helping schools, educators, and students navigate the new era of digital assessments with confidence and success. As WAEC and NECO prepare to fully embrace CBT in 2026, we will continue to lead the charge in ensuring that the students we support are ready for this exciting new chapter in education.
